Community Guidelines

Most of Find North is private. The one place other people can see anything is a North Circle — and only what you chose to share. These are the rules for that space.

What circles are for

A circle exists so you don't have to go through something alone. It's for support, encouragement, honest check-ins and shared intention. It is not a feed, an audience, or a place to be assessed.

What we ask of you

  • Respond to what someone shares with care. If you can't be kind about it, don't respond.
  • Treat what's shared with you as confidential. Don't screenshot it, repeat it or take it outside the circle.
  • Share only what's yours to share. Never post someone else's writing, photo or recording without their permission.
  • Invite people who actually want to be there, and accept it gracefully when they don't.
  • Support without diagnosing. You are not anyone's therapist, and neither is North.

What isn't allowed

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, coercion or threats of any kind.
  • Hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • Sharing someone's private information, or pressuring anyone to share more than they chose to.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or any sexual content directed at someone who hasn't invited it.
  • Encouraging self-harm, suicide, violence, or illegal activity.
  • Spam, scams, recruitment, selling, or using a circle for commercial promotion.
  • Impersonating another person, or creating a circle to monitor or control someone.

If something's wrong

  • Every shared item and every circle has a way to report it. Reports come to us, not to the person you're reporting.
  • You can leave a circle at any time, without explaining. What you shared stops being visible to it.
  • A circle owner can remove a member, and anyone can block further invitations from a particular person.
  • If something urgent or unsafe is happening, write to home@findnorth.us with the word "urgent" in the subject.

What we do about it

We review reports and act proportionately: a warning, removing content, removing someone from a circle, archiving a circle, or closing an account for serious or repeated breaches. Where the law requires it, we cooperate with authorities.

We may remove or restrict shared content that breaches these guidelines. We do not read private, unshared writing to police it.

If you are in danger

Find North is not a crisis service and North is not a clinician. If you or someone in your circle is at immediate risk, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country. That is the right thing to do, and nobody here will think less of you for it.

These guidelines exist for one reason: so that sharing something true with someone you trust never becomes a thing you regret.
